While in Castel Firmiano - one of South Tyrol’s landmarks - you can visit the Messner Mountain Museum of the South Tyrolean mountaineer Reinhold Messner, in Castel Roncolo - which you can easily reach from our hotel either by foot or by bike - you can admire beautiful medieval frescoes, whereby the estate is also known as “Painted Castle“.

Close to the Hotel Lewald there is also Castel Mareccio, surrounded by enchanting vineyeards near the centre of Bolzano. And if you like events and celebrations, we recommend you a detour to the medieval Castel Flavon from where you can enjoy a wonderful view over the capital city of South Tyrol.

In occasion of the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1994, the city of Bolzano built the modern indoor sports arena Palaonda, which today hosts the games of the Bolzano Hockey Club - playing in the "ICE Hockey League". It is also worth visiting the Contemporary Art Museum (Museion) and the Messner Mountain Museum; the latter was founded and arranged by the renowned alpinist Reinhold Messner.
